February 4th is International Human Fraternity Day. It was created in 2020 by the United Nations General Assembly.

The objective of this day is to promote* harmony, dialogue and respect between people from different cultures and religions. It seems* particularly important at a time of intense conflict in the world.*

One way you can celebrate* International Human Fraternity Day is by learning about a different culture and getting to know* people who have different beliefs* and traditions than you.

January 27th, 2025

Today, 9th grade students* of Sevigné are starting their internships!* 

For a week, they will discover the world of work* in a wide range of* professional sectors: health*, education, commerce, hotel and catering*, construction*, industry, farming*, and so on... 

This will be the perfect opportunity to find out* what job could suit them* in the future.

So, let's hope they have a good time and they find the internship useful!*

Today is International Day of Education. 

At College Sevigné, we believe that a good education is key* to becoming a responsible individual* who understands the world around them and can make good, healthy* decisions. 

Unfortunately, millions of children around the world are still deprived* of this very basic human right*. 

So, 24th of January is the perfect day to realize how* precious education is and to promote* better access to education for all!

January 20th, 2025

Today is Martin Luther King Day. MLK day is a federal holiday* which is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of January every year. 

Martin Luther King Jr was born in 1929 and died in 1968. He was a pastor and the leader of the civil rights movement*, a group of people who used non-violent tactics to protest against segregation* and racial discrimination. Indeed, Black people (or 'African Americans') were treated very unfairly* in the US, even in the 20th century*. Martin Luther King Jr, together with other activists like Rosa Parks, pushed the American government to put an end to* such injustice. 

He is remembered today for his courage and determination, and his famous "I have a dream" speech* (1965) remains as powerful* 50 years later.

This week is National Pizza Week in the USA! 

Pizza originates from Southern Italy, but it came to the US in the 1900s, thanks to* Italian immigrants.
Today, many people declare that pizza is one of their favourite dishes*. What about you? Do you like pizza? What are your favourite toppings*? Ham, cheese, tomato sauce, vegetables?
In any case, you can celebrate this special week by having a slice* of your favourite pizza tonight. Enjoy your meal!*

Did you know that* January 11th is International ‘Thank You’ Day? 
This day is the perfect opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to your friends and family, to show* gratitude to the people who play an important role in your life. 
There are different ways* to say ‘Thank you’ : a card, a text message, a smile or a small gift are all nice gestures.*

So, don’t be too ambitious… and just do your best*!

The weather* is really depressing* these days.
As the English say, it’s « raining cats and dogs » = it’s raining a lot!
It’s a bit difficult to spend time outside*, go for a walk or a run*…
So, let’s hope the weather gets better soon* and the sun comes back!
