In February 2024, students of 3ème went on a school trip to London.
On Day 1, we all met at Sévigné at 4.45 in the morning. It was very early but everyone was excited about the big trip!
We drove to Calais, where we embarked on the Eurotunnel shuttle at around 12.30. Some students thought they would see fish in the Channel but of course that didn't happen!!!
In the afternoon, we discovered Canterbury, a wonderful medieval city.
Finally we made our way to London, where we were greeted by the local organizer and the host families.
Everyone enjoyed a nice dinner and went to bed.
On Day 2, we embarked on a ship for a cruise down the Thames river, between Greenwich and Westminster. We saw all the major London sights such as Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, etc.
We had picnic on the riverbanks of the Thames, close to the London Eye.
Then, we crossed St James's Park and walked to Buckingham Palace, the house of King Charles III.
In the afternoon, we visited the Imperial War Museum, which is a museum dedicated to the memory of all wars Great Britain fought in.
In the evening, we all went home for a nice shower and dinner with our host families.
On Day 3, in the morning, we enjoyed a guided tour on Street Art in the East End of London. We saw works by famous graffiti artists such as Banksy. The tour guides were real experts on street art, and on top of this, they were extremely nice!
Then, we had picnic in a covered market. Many students were fascinated by all the amazing food stalls there, which reflect the great variety of world cuisine.
In the afternoon, we went to a theater to see a musical. Students saw The Lion King or Phantom of the Opera. It was a very impressive performance!
We were all happy to go home for dinner after such a busy (and cold!) day.
On DAY 4, it was already time to pack our suitcases to go back to France.
Before embarking on our big trip back home, we spend time exploring the amazing Camden Town, an area of London that is home to six colorful markets. Students loved the shopping and eating experience there.
At around 12.30pm, we hopped on the bus to drive to Dover. We crossed the Channel and arrived in Calais at 6pm.
We enjoyed delicious burgers at a fast-food restaurant, before we drove back to Flers, where parents were waiting for their children. It was midnight and time to sleep for everyone!
